Just a quick reminder, 7th grade does have a test on Monday for the Muscular System. They will be required to:
1. Label the muscle (posterior and anterior)
2. Describe the difference between anterior and posterior.
3. Explain that muscle fibers do not multiple only increase in size (hypotrophy)
4. Explain the difference between the 3 muscle types (skeletal, cardiac, and smooth)
5. Explain the location of the muscles using their vocabulary words and knowledge from the skeletal system (anterior, posterior, lateral, medial)
The students were given some tips for studying for this test, which were to draw a basic body outline and have someone call out the names of the muscles and they write and draw them in the correct location. If no one is available to help them study they can create a word box for themselves. I recommended that they study 15-20 minutes a day starting Thursday for this test and not to wait till Sunday night to do it all.
Good luck and study, study, study!

8th grade ad questions
Please answer these in your journal using a TV ad.
1. Did the ad convince me that I would be a better or happier person or improve myself in some way by using that product?
2. Do I feel that I would be more attractive to others if I followed the ad's advice?
3. Do I feel that if I ignore the ad I will lose status with my friends or that something bad will happen?
Remember it is not that you would necessarily use the product but what impression the ad gives you. This is due on Tuesday in class.

PE Quiz outline
Pulse Quiz
Radial- located in the wrist, thumb side.
Brachial- upper arm underside between the bicep and tricep
Carotid- located in the neck about 1 finger length from the earlobe
We use the index and middle finger for taking a pulse count.
Thumb has a pulse of its own.
It is important to increase the heart rate minimum of 30 minutes most days of the week to
1. Make the heart stronger
2. Improve circulation in the body
3. Maintain a healthy weight
When you raise the heart rate you will raise the body temperature which increases blood flow and burns calories (unit of energy).
To find your pulse count for 6 seconds and then add a zero to that number (for example if you counted 6 beats then you would have 60 beats per minute).
Your maximum heart rate is determined by subtracting your age from 220.
